Silo mortars help build new England

Following the success of its New England fishing village-style development at Leybourne Lakes in Kent, Berkeley Homes has been keen to continue the theme. It has now started work on a similar scheme a few miles away at Holborough and has again specified mortar from CPI EuroMix, because of the mortar company’s excellent performance at Leybourne

Set on the edge of 11 large lakes forming part of a 25-acre aquatic nature reserve, Leybourne Lakes was designed in the architectural style of a New England fishing village. Comprising over 350 properties, ranging from two-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom detached houses, they featured traditional Cape Cod boarding, decked areas and balconies.

Similarly, Holborough is a striking new development set around attractive landscaping and water features. Each phase of the scheme will have its own distinct identity, embracing the natural landscape.

To ensure a constant supply of high quality mortar for the project, Berkeley Homes specified CPI’s 35-tonnes silo system utilising natural coloured mortar for all the brick and block work.

Once completed, the homes will externally offer a variety of natural colours and feature attractive balconies or gardens, to replicate the New England style. Internally they benefit from a contemporary specification specially selected to add cosmopolitan style, whilst complementing the New England look and feel.
