Regional Guild of Bricklayers
Competition Underway

First of the regional rounds of this year’s Guild of Bricklayers apprentice competition has been held at Bournville College, Birmingham.

Senior winner of the West Midlands competition was Jake Newbold-Shankland of Stoke-on-Trent College while Connor Keyte of Morton Morrel College took the junior title.

Contestants were given up to six hours to construct a brickwork model from drawings supplied.

A further eight regional competitions are to be held before the final being held at Derby College on 21 June. The Mortar Industry Association is sponsoring all stages by supplying mortar and CPI Euromix, on behalf of the association, supplied mortar for the West Midlands competition.

Guild of Bricklayers West Midlands chairman, Vic Scriven, presents the junior section awards to Connor Keyte of Morton Morrel College.
