Guild Of Bricklayers 2018
National Competition Underway

Guild of Bricklayers 2018 national competition is underway with three regional heats completed.

In Wales, at the competition held at Bridgend College, Pencoed, two students from Gwynedd were winners, Lewis Griffiths taking the senior section with Ifan Williams the junior prize.

Again two students from the same college – this time Preston’s College - took both section prizes in the North West regional competition. Oliver Ogden won the senior section, Adam Armstrong the junior.

At the West Midlands competition held at Moreton Morrell College, Warwick, Sam Yeomans, Stafford College took the senior section, Morgan Smith, Rugby College, the junior.

Senior contestants were given up to six hours to construct a brickwork model from drawings supplied, while juniors were given an hour less.

Mortar Industry Association is sponsoring all stages of the competition by supplying mortar through its producer members. For these three heats, Tarmac supplied to the North West and West Midlands competitions and CPI Euromix to Wales.
